What Does a Registered Behavior Technician Do?

A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who works directly with individuals under the close supervision of a certified behavior analyst. They implement behavior-analytic services and behavior management plans designed to improve the quality of life for clients/patients and their families. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science that uses the principles of learning and motivation to solve behavioral problems in children, adults, and seniors. 

Key responsibilities of a Registered Behavior Technician may include: 

  • Implementing Behavior Plans: Directly applying designed behavior management plans.  
  • Data Collection: Properly preparing for and collecting data on client progress.
